English Grammar Form Classes and Structure Classes in Hindi

English grammar में आप Parts of Speech के बारे में जानते ही होंगे जिसमें अंग्रेज़ी के तमाम शब्दों को Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Verb, Adverb, Preposition, Conjunction and Interjection कुल आठ वर्गों में विभाजित किया गया है। लेकिन आजकल के आधुनिक युग के grammarians ने अंग्रेज़ी के शब्दों को सिर्फ़ दो वर्गों को विभाजित किया है, Form Classes and Structure Words.

Form Classes in English Grammar

Form Classes के अंतर्गत ऐसे शब्द आते हैं जो सिर्फ़ affixes से प्रभावित होकर ही अपना रूप (form) बदलते हैं। और Affix वह शब्दांश है जो स्वतंत्र रूप से कोई ख़ास अर्थ नहीं रखता है, परंतु कुछ शब्दों के आगे या पीछे जुड़कर उनके स्वरूप और अर्थ में परिवर्तन ला देता है।

जो affix किसी शब्द के अंत में लगता है उसे suffix कहते हैं, और जो affix किसी शब्द के शुरू में जोड़ा जाता है उसे prefix कहते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, apple, eat, comfort, call, love, prove ये सभी form classes के शब्द हैं क्योंकि इनका रूप सिर्फ़ s/es, d/ed, ing, un, less, ly, dis, re, etc. affixes लगने के बाद ही बदल सकता है। और Form Classes के चार भेद हैं: Nouns, Adjectives, Verbs and Adverbs.

Structure Classes in English Grammar

Structure Classes के अंतर्गत ऐसे शब्द आते हैं जिनपर affixes का कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता है, इनका रूप (form) कभी बदलता नहीं है। जैसे कि a, an, the, this, that, can, shall, we, you, who, what, also, although, however, to, on, in, so, therefore, etc.

इनका मुख्य काम sentences के structure को स्पष्ट करना होता है। इसमें Auxiliaries, Determiners, Pronouns, Prepositions, Conjunctions, Interjections, Intensifiers, Subordinators और Question words आते हैं।

Structure words की सबसे बड़ी विशेषता यह है कि उनका प्रयोग हमेशा Form Classes यानी किसी noun, verb, adjective और adverb के पहले ही होता है। इसका मतलब यह है कि structure words का प्रयोग करते समय यह ध्यान में रखना आवश्यक है कि उनके बाद कौन-सा noun या verb या adjective या adverb प्रयुक्त होगा।
